The Deal Score
Every product and service on IsItGoodDeal receives a Deal Score from 0 to 10. This score answers one question: is this a good deal for your money?
The Deal Score is not a quality score or a feature score. A product can be excellent and still score low if it's overpriced relative to what you get. Conversely, a simpler product can score high if it delivers solid value at a fair price.
What We Evaluate
Our scoring considers four factors:
- User satisfaction — What do real users say after paying for and using the product? We read hundreds of reviews on Reddit, Trustpilot, G2, Capterra, and other platforms where people share honest opinions.
- Pricing fairness — Is the price reasonable for what you get? Are there hidden fees, aggressive upsells, or misleading "starting at" prices?
- Feature-to-price ratio — How does the product's feature set compare to competitors at the same price point? Are you paying a premium for the brand name or for actual value?
- Market position — How does this product fit in its market? Is it the best option in its price range, or are there better alternatives?
Our Research Process
For each verdict, we:
- Read user reviews across multiple platforms (Reddit, Trustpilot, G2, industry forums, social media)
- Analyze the product's pricing structure, including any hidden costs or lock-in tactics
- Compare features and pricing against direct competitors
- Synthesize findings into a verdict with specific pros, cons, and use-case recommendations
We prioritize volume and diversity of user feedback. A handful of 5-star reviews doesn't tell us much. Hundreds of reviews across multiple platforms revealing consistent patterns — that's signal.
Verdict Categories
- Good Deal (7-10) — Strong value for money. Real users are consistently satisfied with what they pay.
- Fair (5-6) — Decent value, but with caveats. May work well for specific use cases but isn't a standout deal.
- Wait (3-4) — Below average value. Consider alternatives or wait for a price drop.
- Overpriced (0-2) — Poor value for money. Users frequently report feeling ripped off or finding better options elsewhere.
Updates and Corrections
Markets change. Prices change. Products improve or decline. We update our verdicts when:
- A product significantly changes its pricing
- Major feature additions or removals occur
- User sentiment shifts noticeably (positive or negative)
- A reader points out an error or outdated information
Each verdict page shows when it was last updated. If you notice something outdated, let us know at hello@isitgooddeal.com.
